How to Measure Your Clinic's AI Visibility (Free, Every Month)

A simple monthly AI visibility scoreboard for an aesthetic clinic
Fifteen minutes a month turns a blind spot into a scoreboard.

The short answer: Ask AI the five questions your ideal patient asks before booking. Log whether you are named, how you are described and who is recommended instead, then repeat monthly.

Add Google's new Platform Properties report to see which social posts earn search clicks, and refresh your key pages twice a year so you do not age out of answers.

By some counts, around 84% of businesses have no idea whether AI even mentions them. In a category like aesthetics, where health questions trigger an AI answer roughly 88% of the time, that is flying blind on the channel most likely to be shaping your enquiries.

The good news: measuring AI visibility does not need an expensive tool. We run this exact method on our own brand every month. Here is the whole system: three habits, all free.

Habit 1: The five-question audit, 15 minutes, monthly

You cannot improve what you never look at. Once a month:

  1. Write down the five questions your ideal patient asks before booking. The real ones: best clinic for a treatment in your town, how much does a treatment cost, is a treatment worth it, who do you recommend for a concern, how do I choose a safe clinic.
  2. Ask them across the AI tools your patients use. ChatGPT and Gemini as a minimum; add Perplexity if your patients skew research-heavy.
  3. Log three things per question: Are you named? How are you described, and is it accurate? Which competitors are recommended instead?
  4. Then interrogate the answer. Ask the follow-ups a fussy patient would: prices, practitioner, experience.

Around 62% of AI recommendations vanish after one follow-up question (Clovion), so where you drop out of the answer matters as much as whether you enter it.

Month one is your baseline. From month two, you have a scoreboard: growing, slipping, and exactly which competitor to study. When we ran our own first audit this July, we were named in two of five questions, and the gaps told us precisely what to fix.

What to do about the gaps you find

Habit 2: Switch on Google's new social measurement, one-off setup

This one is brand new. In early July 2026, Google launched Platform Properties in Search Console: you can now verify your clinic's Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube account and see the clicks, impressions and top posts it earns in Google Search and Discover. It is the first Search Console property that does not require a website, and it is free.

Why it matters for clinics: your social content already appears in Google results, and for the first time you can measure it instead of guessing from likes. The reel that flopped on Instagram may be quietly earning search clicks every week.

Setup

  • Open Search Console, add a new property, choose the platform option, and verify your social account. It is rolling out gradually, so if you cannot see it yet, check back.
  • Diarise a monthly look at the top-posts report alongside your five-question audit.
  • Make more of what Google is already rewarding, and stop judging content on likes alone.

Habit 3: The twice-yearly content refresh

Here is a quiet way good clinics lose visibility: their content simply gets old. AI systems lean toward sources that look current: fresh dates, this year's figures, up-to-date context. The guide you wrote two years ago, the one that used to bring enquiries, can slowly slip out of AI answers with no alert and no cliff edge. Just a fade.

The fix is maintenance, not rewriting:

  • Twice a year, take your five most important pages
  • Update the facts, refresh the numbers, correct anything that changed, including prices, practitioners and regulations
  • Show the updated date on the page

An hour of maintenance protects work that took weeks to build.

What good looks like: your monthly dashboard

Keep it to one page. Five rows for the five questions, columns for named, description accurate, competitors cited, dropped after follow-up. Underneath: top three social posts by search clicks (Platform Properties), and the date of your last content refresh.

Three habits, roughly 30 minutes a month after setup. Most of your competitors are doing none of it, which is exactly why the scoreboard tends to move quickly once you start.

What to do with the results

Measurement only pays when it changes what you do next. Three patterns. Three fixes.

Not named anywhere?

Start with positioning and the lists. Check whether your homepage says, specifically, what you are best at. Then trace which roundup lists and directories AI cites for your area and pitch honest inclusion.

Named, but dropped after follow-ups?

That is a consistency problem. Align services, prices, practitioner credentials and descriptions across your site, Google Business Profile, directories and review platforms until the story matches everywhere.

Named, but described inaccurately?

AI is quoting stale or thin sources. Refresh the pages it is drawing from, correct third-party listings, and give it something better to quote: a clear, current, well-sourced page in your own words.

One warning from our own tracking: treat any single month's movement with caution. AI answers vary run to run, which is why the habit is monthly and the story is the trend line, not one snapshot.

The bottom line

Fifteen minutes a month turns a blind spot into a scoreboard. Baseline this month, and by autumn you will know, in black and white, whether your visibility is growing, who is beating you, and why.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check if AI recommends my clinic?
Ask ChatGPT and Gemini the five questions your ideal patient would ask before booking, then log whether you are named, how you are described and who appears instead. Repeat monthly so you can see direction, not just a snapshot.
Are AI visibility tracking tools worth paying for?
Usually not at first. Independent research has described many AI-visibility rankings as largely statistical noise, and the free five-question method gives a clinic everything it needs to act. Consider paid tracking only once you are consistently named and want scale across many locations.
What is Google Search Console's Platform Properties?
A feature launched in July 2026 that lets you verify a social account (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube) and see the clicks and impressions its posts earn in Google Search and Discover, with no website required. It is free and rolling out gradually.
How often should clinic content be refreshed?
Review your five most important pages twice a year. Update facts, figures, prices and practitioner details, and show the updated date. Recency is a real factor in which sources AI cites.
